  5. Add pulp to remaining ingredients and mash with fork. Should be very soft. Serve or reheat later.

Use a potato masher or fork to mash up the squash. Season and serve: Add the vegan butter, olive oil, garlic, cream, and some salt and pepper to the squash and mix to combine into a creamy, mashed butternut squash. How to Cook Mashed Butternut Squash Prep the Squash: Before cutting into the butternut squash, slice a very thin piece off the bottom (the widest part) and set it upright on a towel to keep it sturdy.
